Latest MLB News: Kazmir"s Career to Date
Scott Kazmir has had his fair share of ups and downs in his big league career. He was originally a first-round pick out of high school by the Mets in 2002. He was shipped to the Devil Rays in July of 2004, where he would spend the first six years of his MLB career. Kazmir blossomed into one of the better lefties in MLB, making two All-Star teams for Tampa Bay.
Kazmir struggled mightily from 2009-2011 and didn"t pitch in the 2012 season, but he made a triumphant return to the mound in 2013 for the Cleveland Indians. In 2014, Kazmir was selected to his third All-Star Game while pitching for the Oakland A"s. He signed a three-year deal with the Dodgers following the 2015 season, but battled injuries and was only able to pitch one season for them.
Latest MLB News: Kazmir"s Impact on the Giants
Kazmir was rumored to be seeking a comeback somewhere, and while he is getting older, he could still have an impact on the Giants. The Giants aren"t in contending mode but they have open rotation spots following the departures of Jeff Samardzija and Drew Smyly. If Kazmir makes the team, he could be used as a starter or a reliever depending on how the Giants view him. If he performs well, Kazmir could also be used as trade bait or he could parlay his performance into a bigger contract in 2022.
The latest MLB news has some fans very excited to watch Kazmir attempt his second comeback. Kazmir hasn"t had the success that many thought he would when was with the Rays, but this is his opportunity to prove that he still has something left in the tank.
