ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon Vera joins Sanford MMA in Florida.
The American-born Filipino, now 43, parts with his long-time gym Alliance MMA. Brandon Vera will now have the likes of Aung La NSang, Martin Nguyen, Gilbert Burns, and Michael Chandler as his teammates; lead by head trainer and co-founder Henri Hooft.
Interestingly, his last fight was against his now new teammate, Aung La NSang. Brandon has been inactive since October of 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic canceling his fights. He was supposed to face Arjan Bhullar of India last May in the Philippines. The fight was among one of the scrapped events during ONE Championship’s length layoff.

“I am humbled and honored for Coach Henri Hooft Aung La Nsang and the whole group Sanford MMA for welcoming me into the fold. Iron sharpens Iron and during this #corona world it’s hard to find a burning hot enough, let alone them inviting you in w open arms.”
Even at 43, the heavyweight champion is still honing his craft and indeed, Sanford MMA is one of the best gyms to train with in the world.
The ONE Championship Heavyweight division is slowly getting stacked. In the past months, the promotion has signed massive talents and prospects, making the division more interesting. With the addition of Amir Aliakbari, Oumar Kane, Marcus Almeida, and Vitor Belfort, Brandon Vera will need the best camp he has ever had.
