The next Jorge Masvidal fight seems to be a done deal, according to what Masvidal said on IFL TV:
“Right now I’m focusing on MMA. I got some guys to beat up, August, September; somebody’s getting baptized in my realm… the people are gonna like it when they find out who it is… September we’re back on deck and it’s gonna be prolific my brotha.”
“Gamebred” went on to tell the reporter that he was the first media to “officially” get the news about the next Jorge Masvidal fight.
“It’s just cause I ran into you here… nobody even knows this, you’re like the first media to freaking get this news. Nobody even officially knows it, ya know. I don’t do interviews really, I haven’t said anything.”
The Next Jorge Masvidal Fight Is Confirmed
Masvidal would go on to speak to Boxing Express and confirm that he was facing Kamaru Usman for the title.
Usman is coming off an extremely impressive performance at UFC 258, where he finished his former training partner Gibert Burns via KO/TKO 34 seconds into the third round.
The first fight between Usman and “Gamebred” saw the Miami native start strong, but “The Nigerian Nightmare” ultimately imposed his will. Stalling Masvidal against the cage and stomping on his feet.
The world is wondering what the second fight would look like with both fighters getting a full camp. The first time around, Burns withdrew due to COVID-19 and Masvidal stepped in on just 6 days’ notice. With a full camp, could “Gamebred” do what Burns couldn’t, by finishing “The Nigerian Nightmare”? Or does the next Jorge Masvidal fight go just like that last one did?
With TUF rumored to be filming this Summer, and welterweights confirmed as the coaches for this season; One might wonder if this means they will be coaching, as a September PPV would make sense if that were the case!
