MLB Breaking News, the Miami Marlins have signed left-handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez to a minor league deal, with an invite to camp.

MLB Breaking News: LHP Gio Gonzalez Heading to Miami

The Miami Marlins have signed the 35-year old left-hander Gio Gonzalez to a minor league deal with an invite to camp. Gio Gonzalez, a 13-year veteran in MLB will return to Miami, Florida, his home area.

Gio Gonzalez spent the 2020 season with the Chicago White Sox, he had a 1-2 record, and a 4.83 ERA in 12 appearances for Chicago. At 35-years old Gio will be relied upon for experience and will add depth to the rotation in a season where rosters are expanded due to the pandemic.

The South Florida native Gio Gonzalez will join the Miami Marlins in 2021 looking to solidify his role and spot in the rotation or out of the bullpen. Gio Gonzalez will join his third team in three seasons, he had suited up for four different organizations prior to signing with the Miami Marlins.

Gio Gonzalez has some very impressive numbers as an MLB pitcher, in 13 seasons he has racked up 131 wins, and a 3.70 ERA which includes 1860 strikeouts. Gonzalez began his career in Oakland with the Athletics, he moved on and spent the majority of his career with the Washington Nationals, a member of the Nationals for 7 seasons. He would join the Milwaukee Brewers before he signed with the Chicago White Sox in 2020 on a one-year deal.

The Miami Marlins will give the veteran left-hander every opportunity to make the opening day roster, he has all the tools necessary to take a spot on the rotation, a new look and uniform as Gonzalez returns to his native Florida.
