UFC 262 To Host Shane Burgos vs Edson Barboza
Shane Burgos (13-2, 6-2 UFC) fights out of Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts school in New Windsor, New York. Burgos is currently coming off a unanimous decision loss to Josh Emmett in a fight that saw both fighters earn Fight of the Night honours. However, this loss for Burgos resulted in the end of his three-fight winning streak. Therefore, Burgos will be aiming to get back in the win column against the experienced Edson Barboza.
Edson Barboza (21-9, 15-9 UFC) fights out of American Top Team in Jupiter, Florida. Barboza is currently riding on a one-fight win streak after a comprehensive unanimous decision win against Makwan Amirkhani. However, prior to the unanimous decision win, Barboza was experiencing a three-fight losing streak. Therefore, Barboza will be looking to continue his upward trajectory at featherweight by getting the win against Shane Burgos.
This match-up can be seen to be a must-win for both fighters. Burgos will be looking to get back in the winning column against a vastly experienced Barboza. In a fight that if Burgos wins will be the biggest name on his record. On the other hand, Barboza needs to ensure that the UFC was right in providing him with a new multi-fight deal. While also ensuring that he made the right decision in dropping down to featherweight, after a lengthy career at lightweight.
