On the 5th of June, heavyweight titans will take the cage! First reported by MMA Fighting, Walt Harris vs Marcin Tybura features two top 15 ranked UFC strikers looking to separate themselves from the pack!
The Road to Walt Harris vs Marcin Tybura
Walt Harris (13-9-1NC, 6-8-1NC UFC) aka “The Big Ticket” is a 37-year-old veteran, who has had a shaky UFC career. On a 2 fight skid, Harris is 2-2 with 1 no-contest in his last 5. One would have to imagine his UFC tenure could be on the line considering the UFC recently cut the likes of JDS and Alistair Overeem.
Playing Devil’s advocate, you could argue that the bulk of losses Harris has suffered have been at the hands of the truly elite. With notable losses to Alexander Volkov, Overeem, and Fabricio Werdum. Yet, looking at Overeem once again, he too was only losing to the truly elite and got cut. Who knows how much rides on the Walt Harris vs Marcin Tybura fight?
Marcin Tybura (21-6, 8-5 UFC) is the former M-1 Global heavyweight champion and Grand-Prix winner. Another Polish fighter who’s really blazing his way to the top, Tybura is riding an impressive four-fight win streak! These include victories over the likes of Greg Hardy, Sergey Spivak, and Ben Rothwell. Even more impressive is the fact that earlier in his career, he was victorious over “The Skyscraper” Stefan Struve, and the former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski.
Tybura looked very impressive in his last fight against Hardy, weathering the storm early before getting the win via KO/TKO and a Performance of the Night bonus. Most recently scheduled to face Blagoy Ivanov at UFC 260, Ivanov pulled out due to injury. Leading to this bout with Harris.
