When talking about trading for an All-Star big man such as Nikola Vucevic potential trades returning to Orlando have to be almost perfect. The Magic’s star center is on slate to make $26 million this year and is on contract for two more years following the end of this season. At the age of 30 with two years left, whoever makes a deal for Vucevic will be getting a center around his prime and on contract for a while.
Constructing a deal for the two-time All-Star will be tough. However, there are three teams that could use some help to boost their chances not only this year, and the following two as well.
Nikola Vucevic potential trades to the New York Knicks
- Nikola Vucevic
New York has already made it evident that Kevin Knox could be on the table, so why not pair him with more young pieces in Ntilikina and Robinson to create a superstar big man pairing.
Currently, the Knicks sit at 7th in the Eastern Conference but are only a game and a half back of sneaking into the top four teams. The addition of Vucevic will give them the chance to not only take over that four spot but thrive in it.
New York has shown they are not afraid of making moves this season, so why not finish the trade season off with a splash. The return for Orlando is arguably the best they can receive as well. Two young wild cards along with a proven shot blocker in Robinson creates a very interesting young core for the Magic.
Dubs Attempt to Extend their Reign
- Nikola Vucevic
James Wiseman may have been the second pick of last year’s NBA draft, but he does not fit the timeline of Stephen Curry and the rest of the Warriors. Throwing in a proven commodity such as Vucevic not only solidifies the Warriors chances at the playoffs this year but also makes them a finals contender when Klay Thompson is back at full strength the following year.
For Orlando, in Nikola Vucevic potential trades to teams like the Warriors, the return is far from ideal. Oubre’s expiring has to be included to make the money work for both sides, and Golden State’s young pieces are few and far between. Poole and Looney are huge risks to take back, but the future firsts could be the crowning return as fans have seen Golden State drafted in the top three as recent as last year.
Forming a Big Three in Dallas
Throwing Nikola Vucevic in with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis immediately creates the best big three in the Western Conference. Dallas has one of the easiest remaining schedules in the NBA as well, so the trio can get accustomed to each other’s play styles while playing some of the weaker teams in the league.
Much like the return from Golden State, Dallas’s package is far from ideal. With most of their draft picks being dealt for Porzingis, Orlando will have to pick from a shaky package of prospects along with the expiring deal of Hardaway Jr.
Trade Season is Approaching
With more and more names hitting the rumor mill, it should be a busy NBA trade deadline. In any Nikola Vucevic potential trades, the Magic will be looking to get back younger players with potential or draft picks. Vucevic is the latest big name to hit the market, and there are plenty of suitors that could use his talents. The All-Star center is a name to monitor as the March 25th deadline is looming.
