Harry Hunsucker Steps in Short Notice to Fight Tai Tuivasa

American Harry Hunsucker has stepped in on short notice to fight Aussie fan-favorite Tai Tuivasa on short notice at the UFC APEX on 21 March. Hunsucker replaces Don’Tale Mayes, who withdrew due to injury. The change of opponent was announced by the UFC.

Harry Hunsucker Takes on Tai Tuivasa at UFC Vegas 22

Kentucky heavyweight Harry Hunsucker (7-3) has stepped up for a heavyweight showdown at the UFC Vegas 22 main card. Hunsucker has made a name for himself on the US regional heavyweight scene in the HRMMA promotion, and, amazingly, his ten-fight professional career has never seen a second round. With multiple TKOs and submissions across his seven finishes, Hunsucker has proven to be exciting enough for a step up to a major promotion. A win in his UFC promotional debut would represent a substantial upset but could catapult the newcomer immediately towards the UFC top-15 rankings.

Tai Tuivasa (11-3) made waves in the UFC following his debut in 2017 and quickly endeared himself to fans of the sport. Despite a promising start to his UFC career, the shoey-guzzling Sydney knockout artist endured a difficult three-fight losing run in 2018-19 but has more recently bounced back with an impressive first-round KO of Dutch legend Stefan Struve, reasserting himself amongst the elite of the UFC heavyweight division. Tai has helped improve his already impressive skill set by training with the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) gym in California. Another win for the affable Aussie will help push him towards title contention.

A new matchup for Tuivasa helps preserve an already-exciting card, which features a middleweight clash that sees surging contender Kevin Holland take on divisional stalwart, Derek Brunson.

  • Derek Brunson vs. Kevin Holland
  • Gregor Gillespie vs. Brad Riddell
  • Harry Hunsucker vs. Tai Tuivasa
  • Gustavo Lopez vs. Adrian Yanez
  • Max Griffin vs. Song Kenan
  • Cheyanne Buys vs. Montserrat Ruiz

Can serial finisher Hunsucker produce an upset? or will Tai Tuivasa prove once again that he’s ready for a run at the top?
