I’m going to give you my UFC Vegas 22 best bets. I’m going to breakdown each of my four picks and explain why I think these are the best bets on the UFC Vegas 22 card.

UFC Vegas 22 Best Bets

Brunson vs Holland Over 2 ½ Rounds -110

I love the over 2 ½ rounds for the Holland vs Brunson main event being at -110. Brunson has started to incorporate his wrestling a lot more in his fights recently. This is a good move from Brunson, because of his high-level wrestling. Earlier in Brunson’s career, he tended to unleash everything he had in the first round, which led to him getting finished by high-level competition.

Brunson’s new style works perfectly in this matchup. Recently Holland has been getting quick stoppages, but this is not always the case. On multiple occasions, Holland has been out-wrestled by his opponents. Looking back on the Meerschaert and Stewart fights, you can see that both were able to have success taking down and controlling positions against Holland.

I don’t necessarily think that Brunson will win this fight, but I do see this fight going into the later rounds. The first round will be very important for Brunson because Holland can be dangerous early and Brunson has had problems in the first round in previous fights. If Brunson can survive the first round by utilizing his grappling early, I see this bet hitting with ease.

Roman Dolidze -145

One of my favorite plays on the card is Roman Dolidze at -145 against Trevin Giles. Dolidze’s wild fighting style has made him very fun to watch so far in the UFC. But I think that his grappling will ultimately be the deciding factor in this fight.

Trevin Giles has had many issues dealing with high-level grapplers. Giles has been submitted by both Gerald Meerschaert and Zak Cummings, he was also out grappled by James Krause in their fight. Considering the grappling accolades that Dolidze has, I do not expect this fight to be competitive once it hits the mat.

I do worry that Dolidze’s style could lead to him getting caught on the feet, but I don’t think that Giles has the power to finish Dolidze. I would wait until after weigh-ins to bet on this fight. This will be Dolidze’s first time competing at 185 in the UFC, but he has said that the weight cut will not be an issue. If Dolidze looks good on the scale, I will not hesitate to play him in this fight at -145.

Riddell vs Gillespie Under 2 ½ Rounds -115

The Under 2 ½ rounds in the Riddell vs Gillespie fight at -115 is one of my favorite picks on the card. This fight is the epitome of a striker vs grappler bout. Riddell is easily one of the best strikers at 155 and will challenge Gillespie a lot on the feet. On the other hand, Gillespie is probably the best wrestler in the division.

This fight ultimately will be decided by Riddell’s ability to defend takedowns. If Riddell can defend Gillespie’s takedowns and force Gillespie to strike with him, I can see a clear path for Riddell to finish him. Now, if Riddell is not able to defend Gillespie’s takedown attempts, I see Gillespie eventually getting a GNP or submission victory.

Gillespie is also coming off of a brutal head kick KO, so it is unknown how his chin will look. Riddell has been tested by other good wrestlers, but none to the caliber of Gillespie. Because I expect this fight to be one-sided for either guy, I believe that there will be a finish. Either it being Gillespie on the ground, or Riddell by way of knockout.

Montserrat Ruiz +275

I see a ton of value here on Montserrat Ruiz at +275 against Cheyenne Buys. The line for this fight is absurd to me, should be way closer in my opinion. Ruiz has a strong wrestling background which will be useful in this fight. I love the pressure that Ruiz puts on her opponents, always pushing forward with strikes.

I expect Ruiz to clinch with Buys and attempt to take her down considering the striking background of Buys. If Ruiz can pressure Buys and get her on the backfoot, I see her landing powerful combinations to close the distance. Once in the clinch, I expect Ruiz to attempt a head and arm throw. She has had success with this technique in the past and it is her go-to when trying to take her opponent down.

Because of how large the line is on this fight, I see Ruiz as a great underdog pick. I think Ruiz will win by decision, but I think she has the ability to hurt Buys on the feet or submit her on the ground. Therefore I’m going to just play her on the money line at +275.

Let me know what you think of my UFC Vegas 22 Best bets. This card should be a good one, and I’m super excited for the main event between Kevin Holland and Derek Brunson. I hope everyone enjoys the fights!
