Blaine O’Driscoll might have been a late-notice replacement for the BRAVE CF 49 co-main event, but he looked far from out of place. Showing glimpses of brilliance in the biggest fight of his career against Jose Torres, he gave his all for a spot on the BRAVE CF Flyweight Tournament.
In the very first minute of the fight, O’Driscoll appeared to have the upper hand. Constantly on the move and fighting from long range, this was where the Irishman managed to connect with his best shots. But that all changed when Jose Torres got a clean knockdown. This was the turning point.
From that moment on, up to the end of the third round, O’Driscoll was always a step behind Torres, who controlled the actions with his stand up and with a necessary amount of his NCAA Division 2 wrestling to secure the win.
After three rounds, Torres was declared the winner by unanimous decision, moving forward to the semi-finals of the prestigious BRAVE CF Flyweight World Title Tournament.
Jose Torres Post Fight Interview
After his impressive performance Torres had time to talk with BRAVE TV, where he was more than complementary to his opponent and clearly excited for what the future holds.
“Blaine was an amazing opponent. I thought he was going to give up but he refused, the guy was a staple of the Irishman. I’m excited to face the winner of Ali Bagautinov vs Dustin Oritz, because those were two guys that I was watching even before I started in MMA, it’ll be awesome to fight one of them”.Jose Torres talking after his victory vs Blaine O’Driscoll- Quote credit to Brave TV Media Team.
