Flyweights Tyson Nam and Tagir Ulanbekov Scrap It Out in June

Tyson Nam (20-12-1, 2-3-0 UFC) is heading back into the octagon after already featuring in 2021 on UFC Fight Island 8. After two withdrawals from Matt Schnell, they finally went to war in January. In a close contest, Schnell was victorious on a split decision.

The Hawaiian is a staggering 37-years-old and has been fighting professionally since 2006. His fight against Ulanbekov will be his sixth in the promotion. Nam lost to Sergio Pettis via a unanimous decision in his promotional debut. It was the same result five months later against Kai Kara-France, losing two out of two in the UFC.

Nam finally showed the fans what he was all about when he knocked out Zarrukh Adashev with a beautiful counter-right hook after 32 seconds at UFC Vegas 2. Three months later, a second victory and a second knockout. This time it was a second-round finish against Jerome Rivera, finishing him with ground and pound.

Tagir Ulanbekov (12-1-0, 1-0-0 UFC) has a perfect record in the promotion so far, debuting against Bruno Silva at UFC Fight Island 5. The Russian edged on the ground-game and earned his first UFC victory by a unanimous decision.

Ulanbekov is a former teammate and friend of former UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. His only loss came against Zhalgas Zhumagulov via a majority decision in Fight Nights Global in August 2018.

It is expected that the Tyson Nam and Tagir Ulanbekov fight will land on the main card and it will certainly be one to watch! The bouts scheduled so far are:

• Featherweight: Seung Woo Choi vs Julian Erosa
• Women’s Flyweight: Casey O’Neill vs Lara Procopio
• Flyweight: Tyson Nam vs Tagir Ulanbekov
