Dustin Poirier Analysis: The Prizefighting Diamond

“The Diamond” is fighting for more than a title but a future. After Charles Oliveira vs Michael Chandler was announced for the vacant UFC lightweight title, Dustin will certainly be taking on the trilogy match against Conor Mcgregor. So, let’s jump right into this Dustin Poirier analysis and talk about how “The Diamond” has shifted his goals of victory from the title, to the future, in the Good Fight Foundation.

The Good Fight Foundation

Dustin Poirier is a charity man. He started up the Good Fight Foundation to help bring the combat community together as well as raise money for people in need. Poirier auctions his fight kits after every bout he competes on, other fighters have been joining in on this including Max Holloway and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Good Fight Foundation has raised a lot of money, including a $500,000 donation from “The Notorious”, Conor McGregor. Continuing with our Poirier analysis, we’ll talk about where “The Diamond” fits into the chaotic UFC lightweight title situation.

Giving Up The UFC Lightweight Title Oppurtunity

Dustin Poirier has jumped out of the title picture and decided to take up a trilogy bout against McGregor. After Poirier shocked the world at UFC 257 by knocking out “The Notorious One”, he’s looking to make it 2-1 in the third and final bout against his respected rival. The winner of this highly anticipated match-up will most likely be next in line for the title. They will face the winner of  Charles Oliveira vs Michael Chandler, in an epic clash for the championship of the UFC’s most disarrayed division.

With a victory, Dustin will also draw a lot of money to himself and The Good Fight Foundation. This would be monumental for him, as his dream is to use his charity to change lives. Something he has already done plenty of times before. Looking into this Poirier analysis, it’s clear as day that “The Diamond” is a true prizefighter for the people. Realizing he would make the same amount or even more money for his charity and family by fighting McGregor again; it seems Poirier is willing to make the sacrifice for the people.

There were many years of ups and downs for Poirier but after being defeated by one of the world’s biggest superstars in Conor McGregor, Dustin finally solidified himself within the division’s elite. The only two bumps in his career since then came in the shape of Michael Johnson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The competition that Dustin has faced finally led him to an inevitable rematch against the “Notorious” where he would shock the world by knocking Conor out-cold.

Continuing this Poirier analysis, we know that Dustin only denied himself of the UFC Lightweight Title match so he could get that big payday. “The Diamond” is now in a position where he gets what he wants. After defeating a huge star in extremely impressive fashion, Poirier has all the confidence in the world going into the final bout of an intense trilogy. If he succeeds in his attempt to seal the rivalry in his favour, not only could Dustin get his biggest paycheck to date but the extension of his charity would be limitless.
