Guram Kutateladze (12-2, 1-0 UFC) won his UFC debut back in October of last year via a split decision against fellow octagon debutant Mateusz Gamrot. In his post-fight interview, he made it clear he felt he had lost the fight despite two of the judges scoring it in his favor. The 29-year-old is cornered by UFC star and teammate Khamzat Chimaev.
Don Madge (9-3, 2-0 UFC) has not fought since September 2019 where he defeated Fares Ziam via unanimous decision. That was his second fight in the UFC, following his victorious debut in 2018 where he beat Te Edwards. Madge fights out of Cape Town, South Africa, and trains out of Fight Fit Militia.
Guram Kutateladze vs Don Madge Booked for July 17th UFC Fight Night
Kutateladze had previously called on Sean Shelby to hand Paddy Pimblett his UFC debut against the Georgian following some back-and-forth exchanges between the two on Twitter. With the “Georgian Viking” calling out the Scouser on comments made by him regarding his country.
Guram Kutateladze vs Don Madge was originally scheduled to take place in a UFC event on March 13th, however, it was scrapped after Kutateladze was forced to withdraw with a torn left meniscus, which required surgery.
Only four fights are currently scheduled for the UFC Fight Night scheduled on July 17th. With the return of Miesha Tate currently headlining the card, and more fights scheduled to be announced in the coming months, this card shows “classic” potential. As bouts are added or fall off the card, the order of fights could be changed. Here’s the current list of fights scheduled:
- Women’s Bantamweight – Miesha Tate vs Marion Reneau
- Featherweight – Ode Osbourne vs Amir Albazi
- Bantamweight – Khalid Taha vs Sergey Morozov
- Lightweight – Guram Kutateladze vs Don Madge
