In the latest MLB news, the Houston Astros have help on the way. The Astros got off to a hot start but have since gone cold with many of the core players out due to health and safety protocols, but that will hopefully all change when the Astros start a two-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.

Latest MLB News: Help Returns

After spending that last week on the Injured List due to health and safety protocols, Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Martin Maldonado, and Robel Garcia will be able to return to the lineup this week. This is great news given the recent struggles the team has endured on their most recent series against the Seattle Mariners.

The Astros seemed to be getting back on track from an offensive standpoint after managing to score five runs in game one of the series, even though the Mariners ended up winning the game 6-5, but it was something we have not seen from the Astros in recent games. In-game two, the Astros managed to finally end their losing streak after an outstanding performance from Zack Greinke, who went eight strong innings, striking out six and leading the Astros to a 1-0 victory.

Game three of the series showed how much the Astros really need their core players back. After managing to only get one off the bat of Aledmys Diaz, who hit a ground-rule double scoring Carlos Correa, and Myles Straw hitting a sacrifice fly brought in Chas McCormick, the Mariners would go on to win this game with a final score of 7-2.

Once Bregman, Alvarez, Maldonado, and Garcia all clear the final intake protocols, we should see them all back in the lineup against the Rockies. Jose Altuve, the fifth player who has been out of the lineup, will remain on the Injured List due to safety and health protocols. It is still undetermined as to why Altuve is still on the IL.

Latest MLB News: Milestones Reached

In light of the recent struggles the Astros have faced, the pitching staff received some recognition this week. Both Jake Odorizzi and Zack Greinke reached milestone strikeouts. Odorizzi recorded his 1000th strikeout, and Greinke recorded his 2700th strikeout. Huge milestones for these pitchers.
