The 2021 KC Royals are off to one of the best starts in recent memory with a 13-7 record going into Monday’s game. One reason for the hot start is due to Salvador Perez. Perez helps the Royals’ pitching staff by being that helping hand behind the plate, however, Salvy has also been seeing the ball well at the dish. Perez is hitting .244, with five homers, and 12 RBIs on the season. He was hitting nearly everything during the last homestand for the Kansas City Royals.

2021 KC Royals: Injury Update

During Monday’s afternoon game against the Detriot Tigers, Salvador Perez looked to have jammed this thumb during a play at the plate early in the ball game. Perez stayed in the game but left in the middle innings. It seems that Perez was removed from the game due to right thumb discomfort and is considered day-to-day. Backup catcher Cam Gallagher took over for him during the game.

The 2021 KC Royals are currently leading the American League Central as the end of April approaches. Cam Gallagher will be the everyday catcher until Salvy returns, expect the 2021 KC Royals to add another catcher to their roster by tomorrow as the club heads off to Pittsburgh to take on the Pirates. The only catcher currently on the 40-man roster is Sebastian Rivero. Rivero has not played above Single-A ball during his professional career.
