MLB Breaking News: Rockies GM Jeff Bridich is stepping down effective immediately. The Rockies released a statement thanking Bridich for his almost 17 years in the organization, with the final seven as general manager. The team announced that Greg Feasel, the team’s Chief Operating Officer, will fill in as president and oversee all baseball operations. The team also announced that they will look for an interim GM to finish the season.

MLB Breaking News: Hard Times in Colorado

Under Bridich’s leadership, the team went from being a 60-win team to multiple playoff runs, however, the team has recently fallen on hard times. As a result, the team has seen the departure of superstar Nolan Arenado and will likely lose Trevor Story either at the deadline in a trade or the end of the year as a free agent.

The team has also fallen behind the Dodgers and Padres who appear to be in a prime position for deep Postseason runs for the foreseeable future. As a result of their declining performance, Bridich did place the blame on himself earlier this year.

While things have been difficult for the Rockies, who sit at just 8-13 to start the year, the team created some MLB breaking news earlier this season when they were tabbed to host this year’s All-Star game.

With the Rockies looking like they are headed towards another rebuild, it looks like the team has decided on moving in a different direction. The team will first look to bolster a depleted farm system and will likely move Trevor Story at the deadline. The team also has an interesting pitcher in German Marquez who has a relatively affordable contract and could bring back some nice pieces.
