UFC Add Chase Hooper and Steven Peterson to Amazing Card On June 12th

Featherweights Chase Hooper and Steven Peterson are set to throw down in June at UFC 263. The bout was first announced by Cole Shelton on bjpenn.com. The bout is the 12th fight announced on the card with the event filling up nicely. We already have two title fights announced, with Israel Adesanya defending his middleweight belt in a re-match against Marvin Vettori. Also, Deiveson Figueiredo faces Brandon Moreno in a re-match after the amazing draw that couldn’t split the two flyweights back at UFC 256.

It hasn’t been confirmed where Chase Hooper and Steven Peterson will land on the cards.

Featherweights Chase Hooper and Steven Peterson Come Off Victories Heading Back Into the Octagon

Chase “The Dream” Hooper (10-1-1. 2-1 UFC) is a massive prospect in the UFC at only 21 years of age. The American was undefeated in his five amateur fights before turning professional in 2017. Hooper finished his first three opponents and in his fourth professional bout, he faced Drew Brokenshire for the Dominate FC Featherweight Championship. After a solid three rounds, he was awarded the victory on a unanimous decision, earning himself his first title at the age of 18.

In his next bout he fought for the Combat Games Lightweight Championship against Brett Malone. He choked out Malone in the second round to bag himself another title in another promotion. His victories didn’t go unnoticed, as he was invited onto Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018. Hooper beat Canaan Kawaihe on a unanimous decision, but was not awarded a contract by UFC president White.

His dream of being the UFC didn’t have to wait much longer after he proved with two more finishes and a draw outside the promotion, he deserved to be in the UFC. Daniel Teymur was the first opponent for Hooper at UFC 245. An impressive display shown Hooper had so much talent, with fantastic ground game and ground & pound skills finishing Teymur in the first round.

Hooper was defeated in his next bout against a strong opponent in Alex Caceres, who came away with the unanimous victory. He still has so much to learn at such a young age, and after he struggled at times in his last bout against Peter Barrett, he turned on the heat in the third round, producing a stunning heel hook to finish the fight.

Steven “Ocho” Peterson (18-9, 2-3 UFC) has been out of the octagon since September 2019, when he won a Performance of the Night bonus after a stunning spinning back-fist knockout against Martin Bravo. Peterson has fought the majority of his career fighting in Xtreme Knockout and Legacy FC, winning titles in both promotions.

In September 2016 it was announced that Legacy FC & RFA would merge to create a new Legacy Fighting Alliance promotion. Peterson fought for the bantamweight title in the first event in January 2017. Leandro Higo was victorious on a unanimous decision handing Peterson the fifth defeat of his professional career.

Peterson won two more fights in LFA, but lost on a split decision to Benito Lopez in the Contender Series in 2017. Peterson signed for the UFC in 2018, but he lost his first bout in the promotion to Brandon Davis on a unanimous decision. He bounced back with a win over Matt Bessette on a split decision, but lost his next to bouts against Luis Pena and Caceres, before his last victory against Bravo. Chase Hooper and Steven Peterson will be gunning for a victory to try and make an impact on the featherweight division.

With Chase Hooper and Steven Peterson the last bout added to the card, we expect a couple more fights to be announced, whilst some are more than likely to drop off the card. Here are the bouts we have scheduled so far:
