In the latest edition of Cheap Seats Chatter, the crew of Alex, MAK, Cole, and Joe spoke on several topics, ranging from Roberto Alomar‘s sexual misconduct investigation, and Madison Bumgarner‘s seven-inning no-hitter.

Cheap Seats Chatter: Alomar’s Mess, Pioneer League Rules, Seven-Inning No-Nos

The first topic the crew discussed was Roberto Alomar’s dismissal from MLB due to alleged sexual misconduct. While this is an unfortunate situation for all parties involved, the crew praised MLB and the Blue Jays for acting quickly and immediately severing ties with Alomar.

The group then discussed how seven-inning no-hitters should go into the record books. Everyone agreed that while Madison Bumgarner had a fantastic performance, it deserves to have an asterisk since the game didn’t go the full nine innings. Alex also briefly brought up Yusei Kikuchi‘s one-hit performance against the Astros. All four panelists lauded Kikuchi for his performance.

The next topic for discussion was the Pioneer League’s new “knock-out” rule. The league is implementing a hockey-style rule where instead of extra innings, each team will face off in a Home Run Derby to decide the game. While everyone agreed that it probably won’t make it to the majors, Alex raised a point that this could be a fun addition to MLB. Cole opined that this rule will likely spell the end for traditional baseball.

The panel ended the episode by checking in on league leaders, where they spoke on the various surprises around the league.
