UFC 262 Weigh-In Results: Only 1 Fighter Miss Weight; Every Fight Approved by Texas State Athletic Commission

Before the pay-per-view this Saturday, twenty-four fighters were forced to make weight at the UFC 262 weigh-in. In the main event of UFC 262, Michael Chandler (22-5) takes on Charles Oliveira (30-8) in a five-round fight for the UFC vacant lightweight championship. With twelve intriguing matchups on this fight card, the only thing left to do was the UFC 262 weigh-in.

Although only one fighter missed weight, several fighters were close to disaster at the UFC 262 weigh-in. Beneil Dariush missed the Lightweight limit by .5 pounds for his bout against Tony Ferguson. The Texas State Athletic Commission gave him one extra hour to cut that last half-pound. Dariush went back to cut the rest of the weight and successfully re-weighed in before receiving a fine.

Rogerio Bontorin was the last one to weigh in and missed the Bantamweight limit by 1 pound for his bout against Matt Schnell. Despite being allowed to cut weight for one more hour, Bontorin chose to not cut any more weight to prevent any injuries or stamina issues. The Texas State Athletic Commission has decided to allow the fight to continue with 20% of Bontorin’s purse going to Schnell.

Another storyline to know was the miscommunication because of the fighters and the state commission representative. Five different fighters were forced to weigh in with a screen that allows them to save weight by going naked. Every fighter forced to do this seemed surprised that their weight was even being considered. It could have just been the fighters trying to play it cool, but it seemed that the scales may have been wrongly calibrated. With that being said, the UFC 262 weigh-in ended up being one of the best displays of professionalism by a full card of fighters.

Overall, it was an unbelievable weigh-in performance for the UFC 262 fighters as only one fighter missed weight! After the UFC 262 weigh-in, the Houston State Athletic Commission approved all twelve fights to go down tomorrow. Check out the full UFC 262 weigh-in results below!
