Spencer vs Dumont: Meet the Fighters
Felicia “Feenom” Spencer

Former Invicta champion and UFC title challenger, Felicia Spencer, makes her return to the octagon for the first time in nearly a year at UFC Vegas 27. Her last outing is where she would suffer defeat to the current two-division champion, Amanda Nunes. While she fell short on the judge’s scorecards, she showed her heart and toughness is every bit of the definition of championship material.
The Canadian enters UFC Vegas 27 holding a record of 8-2 (2-2 in the UFC). In a division constantly looking for contenders to challenge Nunes, Spencer was highly touted upon making her debut in the UFC back in 2019. She would have her first UFC fight take place against another former Invicta champion and UFC title challenger, Megan Anderson. In this bout, Felicia quickly showed why she was brought to the UFC, by submitting Anderson in the very first round.
Her only other professional loss would come to the hands of Cris Cyborg, one of the greatest, most accomplished female fighters of all time. Again, another bout where Spencer would grind out the full bout and fall short via decision, but not without having her own moments in this one, really posing a threat to Cyborg. Spencer’s other UFC victory came after this loss to Cyborg, and she would find a way to finish another opponent, this time Zarah Fairn dos Santos via TKO.
Now looking to get back in the win column following her title loss, “Feenom” faces a tough test here in Norma Dumont. Should she come out victorious, Spencer will find herself in a unique spot, as do most in this division simply due to the lack of opponents. However, she is a fan favorite, that likes to finish fights and is as tough as any fighter on the roster. It will be interesting to see how Felicia will perform and even more so what will come next.
Norma “The Immortal” Dumont

Brazilian-born Norma Dumont enters UFC Vegas 27 following her first win inside the UFC octagon against Ashlee Evans-Smith. She will now face arguably the toughest opponent of her career in Felicia Spencer, and should she come out victorious, it would mark two in a row for Dumont and a chance to challenge Amanda Nunes for her Featherweight Championship.
Holding a record of 5-1 (1-1) in the UFC, it is clear that Dumont is still very early on in her professional career. This did not stop the UFC from bringing her into their organization after starting 4-0 as a pro, with two of these wins coming by way of submission. Unfortunately for “The Immortal”, her UFC debut would not go as planned, losing to Anderson by way of a devastating one-punch knockout. As previously mentioned, however, she would bounce back following this loss and now looks to start a winning streak.
Norma has shown sparks of being a very well-rounded fighter, and her opponent Felicia Spencer is in the same boat. This could give us quite an intriguing battle and for Norma, this is her chance to prove she is ready to challenge for the coveted UFC gold.
Spencer vs Dumont: Fight Breakdown
Felicia Spencer has a grind it out mentality and she constantly is looking to wilt her opponents. 80% of the time, this has worked for Spencer and she looks to do the same to Norma Dumont at UFC Vegas 27. “Feenom” holds four submission victories and two KO/TKOs, so she is capable of winning in all areas.
She loves to get her opponents up against the fence and work for the takedown. From there, Spencer goes to work and is constantly looking for ways to rain down heavy ground and pound or lock in a submission. Because of this, she is dangerous for any opponent, especially now coming off of a loss, she will be hungry to prove she isn’t going anywhere.
On the other side of the octagon, we have Norma Dumont. Two of her five victories coming by way of submission, she likes to control her opponents. In her short three-minute fight with Megan Anderson, we would see that she is not afraid to strike either, it would, unfortunately, backfire in her fight, however. That is not to say she cannot find success on the feet against Spencer.
We have seen “Feenom” get tested the most when she cannot get her opponents to the mat and this may be the best-case scenario for Dumont. “The Immortal” has a very strong physique and the power will be to her advantage in this one. Because of this, it may be best for her to stay standing as much as possible simply due to the grappling comfortability of Spencer.
Look for this to be a relatively back and forth affair, with Spencer coming out with her hand raised. Her pressure, along with experience against higher-level fighters will give her the biggest advantage in this one. She will be able to land the takedowns, grind out control time and look to finish whenever possible. Dumont will hold her own and have her moments, but it may not be enough to get the job done in this one.
