“How long should I stay dedicated. How long til opportunity meet preparation”, those are not only lyrics of the late Nipsey Hussle, but the caption of Portland’s superstar, Damian Lillard’s latest Instagram post. The post begs the question, are there any Damian Lillard trades looming for this offseason?

Potential Damian Lillard Trades

Dame Time in Boston

Boston Receives:

Portland Receives:

Obviously, Portland wishes to receive Jaylen Brown back in any trade surrounding their six-time All-Star. However, Boston has an abundance of future first-round picks, a tradable contract of a two-time all-defensive team member, and a big contract to make the money work. Boston is one of the teams that has enough assets to pull off one of the Damian Lillard trades, but it all depends on what Portland wants in return.

Dame and the Joker in Denver

Denver Receives:

  • Damian Lillard
  • Robert Covington

Portland Receives:

This is arguably the heaviest return of any of the Damian Lillard trades. Remember, Denver has already put Porter Jr.’s name in trade rumors when James Harden was available on the trade block.

The pairing of Damian Lillard and Nikola Jokic becomes one of the best, if not the best duo in the NBA, but trading for the perennial All-Star would not be easy. Trading young pieces away such as Porter Jr. and Morris not only shows Denver would be pushing all of their chips to the table, but it starts a rebuild in Portland with young players that have playoff experience.

Denver is one of the teams that has to jump on any and all Damian Lillard trades that may happen this offseason. With the amount of young talent on their roster, the Nuggets have the assets to pull off a deal.

Dame in the Garden

New York Receives:

  • Damian Lillard

Portland Receives:

The Knicks will be looking for a blockbuster deal this offseason, so why not go after one of the biggest stars in the NBA? New York, like Denver, has the capability to be one of the teams to jump on any Damian Lillard trades that can occur this summer.

The Knicks will have close to $60 million in cap space this offseason, and what better way to spend it than on one of the best point guards in the NBA.

Portland’s return from New York may not be the best they could receive. However, in any one of these Damian Lillard trades, the Trail Blazers will be getting the lesser of the two teams involved. Barrett, Toppin, and Robinson is a nice young trio to create a rebuilding effort around, but if Portland wants to attempt to stay in contention without Dame, the Knicks deal will most likely be off the table.

Damian Lillard – Ben Simmons swap

Philadelphia Receives:

  • Damian Lillard

Portland Receives:

There is a world where the Sixers flare out before the NBA finals again with the Simmons-Embiid duo, and that puts them in a similar situation as Portland. Both teams would have a star-studded duo that has yet to reach the NBA finals together. So why not swap?

In one of the more interesting Damian Lillard trades listed, the Sixers and Blazers could change up both their duos. For Philly, adding Damian Lillard in Simmons’s role immediately makes them a more legitimate title contender in the East.

Meanwhile in Portland, pairing C.J. McCollum up with Ben Simmons gives the Trail Blazers a solid duo moving forward. The addition of standout rookie Tyrese Maxey gives Portland another building block that could also be flipped if the Blazers wanted to make a ‘Big Three’ with McCollum and Simmons. Lots of options on both sides make this one of the more exciting Damian Lillard trades if it were to occur.

A Lot to Monitor around any Damian Lillard Trades

Anytime a big star such as Damian Lillard puts the slightest hint that he wants to be moved, the NBA and its fans go crazy, and with good reason. Dame is a legitimate Top 10 NBA player, and a deal in place for him would have to be an overhaul for Portland. Who knows if any Damian Lillard trades are likely to happen, but speculation is always fun.
