PFL 4 Main Card Fight Breakdowns

The fourth installment of this year’s Professional Fighters League season is jam-packed with talent. The PFL 4 main card features a trio of bouts, including a matchup at lightweight between Clay Collard and Joilton Lutterbach.

A pair of high-profile featherweight fights will kick off the PFL 4 main card. First, two men who earned victories six weeks ago look to keep their momentum rolling as Brendan Loughnane and Tyler Diamond will battle it out. Then, Bubba Jenkins will welcome former UFC competitor Bobby Moffett to the promotion. In the co-main event slot, “Cassius” faces a fellow experienced competitor in Lutterbach.

PFL 4 takes place Thursday, June 10th at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. The undercard airs at 6 PM (ET) on ESPN+ with the main card beginning at 9 PM (ET) on ESPN 2.

Fight Breakdowns

Clay Collard vs Joilton Lutterbach

Collard made a deafening statement in his return to MMA last April, dominating Anthony Pettis for three rounds. The 28-year-old knocked the former UFC champ down on three separate occasions, proving he hasn’t lost a step despite taking two years away from the cage. However, in those two years, Collard stayed very active competing in 15 boxing bouts.

Lutterbach is also 28-years-old, but he’s already racked up 44 professional MMA fights. PFL 1 was his first appearance on the big stage, where he fell to Raush Manfio via split decision. “Peregrino” likes to keep very active as he’s fought six times in a calendar year on several occasions. He enters PFL 4 as the lesser-known fighter, but he’s prepared for the moment.

As far as physical measurements go, these two are dead even. At PFL 1, Collard overwhelmed Pettis with activity, doubling up “Showtime” on the striking numbers when it was all said and done. Lutterbach likes to come forward, but his strikes often come in off the centerline as he enjoys throwing hooks. If you’re looking to watch two guys duke it out on the feet, then this is the fight for you. A great last-minute addition to the PFL 4 main card.

Bubba Jenkins vs Bobby Moffett

Jenkins made an impressive showing in his PFL debut by earning a unanimous decision win over Lance Palmer. The former Bellator veteran was a decorated collegiate wrestler before turning to MMA in 2011. Still just 33-years-old, “Bad Man” seems to be peaking as he’s rattled off four consecutive victories.

Moffett is a former Contender Series contract winner, but his UFC career was short-lived. After his debut victory was turned to a no contest, “The Wolfman” lost two straight before parting ways with the promotion. Now, nearly two years later he returns to the cage just nine days after his 31st birthday.

This is perhaps the most interesting matchup on the PFL 4 main card. Jenkins stands out of the southpaw stance, and he’s looking for takedowns early and often. Meanwhile, Moffett stands orthodox and is more than willing to trade big shots on the feet. Surprisingly, Moffett is actually more of a submission hunter than Jenkins. Meaning, if Jenkins gets the fight to the ground, he’s more likely to be submitted than pull off one of his own.

Brendan Loughnane vs Tyler Diamond

No one impressed more at PFL 1 than England’s Loughnane, who needed just a few minutes to dispose of his opponent. The 31-year-old has been competing professionally since 2010, and he owns a victory over Bill Algeo, which he picked up in a Contender Series appearance.

Diamond appeared on season 27 of The Ultimate Fighter, losing in the finale via a majority draw to Bryce Mitchell. The California native is a collegiate wrestler who has been training almost exclusively at Team Alpha Male for many years. He also picked up a victory at PFL 1, which came via unanimous decision against Sung Bin Jo.

Both of these featherweights are technical on the feet; very rarely do you see either of them over-commit on strikes. Expect Diamond to try and get the fight to the ground sooner rather than later. The outcome of this attempt will ultimately decide the fight. Loughnane probably has a slight edge in the striking, but Diamond can dictate fights with his wrestling.

PFL 4 Main Card

  • Claressa Shields (0-0) vs Brittney Elkin (3-6)
  • Clay Collard (19-8) vs Joilton Lutterbach (34-9)
  • Bubba Jenkins (15-4) vs Bobby Moffett (13-5)
  • Brendan Loughnane (20-3) vs Tyler Diamond (12-1)
