Arsenal are also trying their best to keep Aston Villa at bay as they await Emile Smith Rowe to complete the signing of a new deal at the Emirates.

The English defender, looks to be scouted as one of the key signings to rebuilding his back four, and has become one of Mikel Arteta’s main targets this summer. With David Luiz seeing his contract nearing an end and Arteta, and Gabriel and Rob Holding underwhelming performances this season, Arsenal are looking to waste no time in securing the services of the young defender.

Arsenal, according to reports, have approached Brighton with a bid of £40million (€46.5m) for White, who made 36 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls last season.

White is touted as a ball playing centre-back with great technical ability as well and was also praised by former manager Michael Flynn for his tough tackling style, White can also play as a defensive midfielder or as a right-back. White is also known for his surging forward runs with the ball helping create quick counterattacks from deeper positions.

Having been called up as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement in the Euros, and is currently with the England squad as well. Reports also suggest that Arsenal are more than likely to return with a slightly improved offer for the defender.

Arsenal to Villa?

Turning the focus away from signing and onto possible exits, the Gunners have rejected the advances of Aston Villa and their £25million bid from the villians for their young star Emile Smith Rowe as well.

Arsenal are unwilling to sell the 20-year old playmaker with him being contracted until 2023, especially with him having just had his best spell with the club, scoring seven goals with just as many assists to boot, capping off a fine season.

Villa have shown firm intent already, having forked out a massive £33million (€38.4m) on Emi Buendia’s move from Norwich City, which is a new club record, showing they aren’t shy to invest majorly this season, building on the success of the good recruitment strategy of last season.

Negotiations still continue between him and the club regarding a newer contract, as they have been since early April, and Arsenal will be extremely keen to see the dotted line signed as soon as they can get it done, especially to ward off any on lookers like Villa.
