Top 5 Emerging Stars Of Euro 2020

As we reach the knockout stages of Euro 2020, five incredible players have caught the eye and many people are hoping that their club make a move on these players!

Denzel Dumfries – The Netherlands

Despite the abundance of quality right backs at Euro 2020, Denzel Dumfries has been the one that has shown up and shown out! The Dynamic Dutch player has scored 2 goals at Euro 2020 so far but the goals are not what has caught the attention of the public, his willingness to get forward, his explosive pace and for such a solid attacking player his defensive qualities are not to bad either!

In a Netherlands side full of world class players such as Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt, PSV Eindhoven’s Dumfries has put his name amongst the elite and has been linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe such as Bayern Munich but the Dutch are looking strong at and if they are to go deep in the tournament they are going to need Dumfries to continue his incredible run of form but don’t be surprised if you see him bombing down the right at a big club next season!

Robin Gosens – Germany

This European Championship seems to be the tournament of the fullbacks! Unlike Dumfries, Gosens is more well known amongst football fans, the German left-back scored a crucial goal in his sides win over Liverpool in last years Champions league group stage. With 11 goals and 6 assists for Atalanta last season, Gosens has carried on his consistent form to his national side and played a key factor in Germanys’ 4-2 win over Portugal with a goal and an assist.

For those who may have never seen him play, he is similar to Bukayo Saka from Arsenal, he can play in many different positions, strong going forward and when needed can do a solid job defensively.

Although Atalanta secured qualification to the Champions League, Gosens is clearly good enough to play for a big club and due to his incredible performances so far has caught the attention of Barcelona. Will he be playing for Barcelona next season? Jordi Alba is beginning to reach the end of his career and Gosens could be the perfect replacement and if he continues his solid performances would certainly earn that move!

Alexander Isak – Sweden

He is special. Despite not scoring for Sweden yet, he has shown enough to show he has a future as one of the best strikers in Europe. With 17 goals for Real Sociedad last season, the youngster put himself on the map and has caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

With his silky dribbling and blistering pace, Isak has truly shown a level of class levels above his years and has unsurprisingly already been compared to Swedish legend, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the comparison is fully justified.

Sweden are a solid team but could become a dark horse of Euro 2020 if Isak can find his club form. 17 goals for a weak Sociedad side suggests that with the right service and players around him, Isak could easily reach 25+ goals a season. Could a team like Spurs swoop in for him? It remains to be seen but he deserves a big-money move.

Manuel Locatelli – Italy

Italy have been the surprise package of Euro 2020 so far. Yet to concede a goal and scoring seven in the process, Italy are currently the team to beat and one of the reasons they are playing so well is Manuel Locatelli. The easiest way to describe him is that he is the combination of Sergio Busquets and Andrea Pirlo, he has popped up with two goals but his defensive game is one to behold and set to join Juventus, you can see why they have moved early.

At just 23-years-old he oozes class and could run the Juventus midfield for years to come. Many Italian fans were worried that due to the injury of Marco Verratti they would struggle, but Locatelli has eased their fears and has been the stand-out performer. Gone of the days of the boring, anti football Italian team and welcome high intensity, beautiful football, spearheaded by Manuel Locatelli.

Mikkel Damsgaard – Denmark

The most unknown player on the list but he won’t be for long. Despite a rough tournament for Denmark, Damsgaard has been a bright spark. His incredible goal against Russia has sent his hype over the edge and helped inspire his side to a 4-1 win securing qualification to the knockout stages for Denmark.

Maybe the rawest player on the list but at just 20, his potential is through the roof, maybe not ready for a big money move like the other players on the list but certainly one to keep an eye on. Yet to set the Serie A on fire with Sampdoria, but with all eyes on the European Championship he has taken his chance and will leave the tournament as the biggest breakout star!
