According to recent reports, Manchester City have made Jack Grealish one of their main transfer targets, in a deal that would be worth around £100m.

After losing out to Chelsea in the Champions League final, Pep Guardiola’s recruitment mission has been no secret as he looks to assemble a squad capable of dominating Europe. This has resulted in strong links to Spurs talisman Harry Kane, who they are still said to be in for despite the acceleration of the Grealish deal.

The reigning Premier League champions’ scout for fresh striking options is well documented, having seen club legend Sergio Aguero depart the Etihad following a hugely successful ten-year stint with the club. Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland is also reportedly among their targets.

It is believed that Manchester City will look to complete the deal after Grealish has finished representing England at the ongoing European Championships, where he provided a crucial assist for current City flyer Raheem Sterling in his nation’s 1-0 win over the Czech Republic on Tuesday evening.

Whilst transfer talk continues to emanate, Grealish will be solely fixated on preparations for a crunch last 16 ties against Germany at Wembley on Tuesday, having started his first game of the tournament against the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have opened talks with Grealish over a new and improved contract at the end of last week in a bid to keep to their prized playmaker at Villa Park, less than a year after he penned fresh terms until 2025.

Last term, Grealish was among the Premier League’s finest performers and promptly put the country’s top dogs on red alert as he proved to be the catalyst in an impressive 11th placed finish for his side after they narrowly avoided relegation the previous campaign.

Villa have already stamped down a marker of intent in the summer window by signing exciting winger Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City in a club-record £33M, along with seeing a £25M bid for Arsenal’s Emile Smith-Rowe turned down.

They will be hoping that their ambitious activity could subsequently convince Grealish to stay, who they harbour desires of building the team around in their pursuit of European football.
