Improving Upper Management
As of now, the New Jersey Devils are in a middle of a CEO search, and possibly replacing Dr. Aimee Kimball on top of a likely Tom Fitzgerald extension as the current General Manager. There are a ton of moving parts and big needs to improve the team. However, the upper brass now shouldn’t choose another business guy. The business guy in Scott O’Neil was all about making money but likely hindering former GM, Ray Shero, and current GM, Tom Fitzgerald from making bigger acquisitions to improve the team and grow it.
The New Jersey Devils should look to promote one of their own and likely look externally to other teams with more successful growth by allowing their team to invest in players and personnel to grow the team and the organization as a whole.
Bolstering The Devils Team
Getting the New Jersey Devils wingers that can be finishers on Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Yegor Sharangovich’s lines will be very pivotal this offseason. The New Jersey Devils once they sort out the new CEO and fix Tom Fitzgerald’s contractual situation they can plan more ahead of schedule. Having spoken with people who are season ticket holders anonymously that they aren’t happy with the experience for their hard-earned cash.
So what really needs to occur is that now Josh Harris is no longer a full-time guy with Apollo Global and focusing on his Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment which includes the New Jersey Devils in that business and entertainment grouping.
Here you can read what I found off of the New Jersey Devils head owner’s Linked In page if you all are curious to read it. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/josh-harris-apollo_moving-forward-activity-6801108550862163968-kzi9
Getting Tom Fitzgerald extended as a General Manager and a new CEO in place vital in planning the New Jersey sessions before, during, or after the Seattle Expansion Draft. So the New Jersey Devils have a lot of cap flexibility as we speak. They have plenty of assets to dangle around and try and get the most value to field a more robust, and fascinating team.
From a hockey standpoint, I can see ownership with a new CEO that is friendly to Tom Fitzgerald in letting him spend to get that ratio of veteran players to young players in balance. If the New Jersey Devils do get players like a Dougie Hamilton or even an Erik Cernak on defense they can bring in a Jaroslav Halak-type backup goalie or even go aggressive on Florida Panthers netminder Chris Driedger. There’s a lot of work to do before the NHL Draft on July 23-24th this month and it’ll be only not if, but when a few upper brass moves are announced.
