Calvin Ridley, the former Alabama wide receiver is not only the number one wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, but he will be the best wideout in Fantasy Football this season.

Ridley finished fourth in standard scoring and fifth in points-per-reception scoring last season.

Although the team has a new head coach in Arthur Smith, Ridley still has a tremendous outlook for this season.

Ridley will be the number one wide receiver in Fantasy Football this season due to a variety of reasons.

Julio Jones

With Jones moving on to the Tennessee Titans this past offseason, Ridley will be the most talented wide-receiver that the Falcons have on the team in which 195 targets are available from last season. The quarterback, Matt Ryan will definitely be looking toward Ridley’s way this season. In the five games that Jones was out of the lineup, the 6’1 receiver had 100-yard games.

The former Alabama wide receiver had averaged 61.25 yards with a solid 14.67 points per game. However, when Jones was not playing, Ridley went for about 107.0 yards and around 20.12 points per contest.

Ridley averaged 6.64 targets with Jones in the lineup last season but when Jones was injured his targets increased to 11.12 per game.

Ridley will definitely be a target machine this season and is a solid wide receiver to target in drafts this season.

Arthur Smith

The former Titans offensive coordinator had the Titans have a pass-to-run ratio of 0.97 which was the third-lowest in the National Football League last season. The Falcons had a 1.63 ratio which was the eighth-highest last season.

Smith did have a great running back at the helm named Derrick Henry. The Titans could have had the 0.97 ratio due to Henry’s skill set on offense. When the football game was within three points, the Titans threw 49 percent of the time. If Smith is wise, then he will most likely want the Falcons to throw the football more since the team does not have a running back like Henry.

Atlanta Falcons

Last season, the Falcons gave up the most passing yards and the fourth most total yards on defense. If the defense is not doing too well, then the offense is going to have to keep scoring points in order to keep up. That means the Falcons will have to keep throwing the football in which Ridley will have more of an opportunity to catch passes and score touchdowns. It remains to be seen if the Falcons defense will improve this season.

High Leverage Situations

In high-leverage situations, Ridley had seen 40 deep targets last season which was the most for a wide receiver, and 22 red-zone looks which were the second-most by any wide-receiver. Ridley will certainly get the same amount of deep targets and red-zone looks since he will be the best wide receiver on the team.

Even though there was a head coaching change this past offseason, Ridley will still be the best player on the offensive side of the football and the number one overall wide receiver in Fantasy Football this season!
