Marcin Tybura and Alexander Volkov are scheduled to square off at UFC 267 in a heavyweight clash set to propel one of the Europeans into the title shot conversation on October 30th, as first reported by Guilherme Cruz of MMA fighting.

Alexander Volkov vs Marcin Tybura: The Battle of the European Heavyweights

Alexander Volkov (33-9 MMA, 7-3 UFC) will be looking to rebound from his recent loss to Ciryl Gane which saw him miss out on the opportunity to secure vengeance over Derrick Lewis in an interim heavyweight title bout set to take place at UFC 265. The Russian had looked flawless in his last two outings before facing the rising prospect Gane including a statement victory over Alistair Overeem crash partying the Dutchman’s hopes of one last run at UFC gold. He will now be hoping to showcase his talents against another rising star, this time in the form of a more experienced opponent.

Marcin Tybura (22-6, 9-5 UFC) is set to enter the biggest fight of his career on a five-fight winning streak. With back-to-back TKO victories over Greg Hardy and Walt Harris respectively. The Polish fighter looks to have found his stride in the UFC and his fight IQ continues to improve with every performance which has seen him propel to becoming the #8 ranked heavyweight in the UFC. Tybura seems to have found his form at both the right and wrong time, with the Polish man seemingly in his prime while the heavyweight division is as competitive as it has ever been.

What Can Fans Expect From This Heavyweight Clash?

Tybura may look to impose his wrestling on Volkov and edge the fight in his favor with the 35-year-old looking to take his opponent down early to avoid a striking battle. Volkov’s height advantage may see his opponent struggle in taking him down with a 67% rate on takedown defense to add.

While for Volkov he will see potential weaknesses in Tybura’s standup which he will look to expose and will want to ensure the fight stays standing with his path to victory as clear as it usually is in any fight involving the ‘Drago’, use his reach advantage to keep his opponent at bay.

This clash will be set to decide whether Tybura is truly made to compete with the elite of the division, while his opponent will be looking to begin yet another winning streak to enter title contention.
