Liverpool teenager follows in the footsteps of Harvey Elliott with a season-long loan move.
Leighton Clarkson has opted to join Championship side Blackburn Rovers for the duration of this season.
The Clitheroe-born prospect will now spend the lump of the season at Blackburn, the club he has supported since he was a kid.
Mamy clubs had scouted Clarkson with the Reds having been rumored to consider releasing the 19-year-old on a temporary basis to continue his development.
Clarkson made three appearances for the Reds’ first team, making his debut as a substitute in the League Cup tie against Aston Villa in the quarter final on December 2019.
Much like his slightly senior counterpart, Harvey Elliott excelled on loan at Ewood Park last season and Liverpool were impressed with the manner in which Blackburn worked with and helped progress their youngster.
With this in mind, all parties were in agreement as this being the best move going forward for everyone concerned.
