Liverpool’s hopes of adding Watford’s Ismaila Sarr has once again been linked with a move to Liverpool as reports from Italy this week suggest the Reds have ‘reignited’ their interest in the winger.
Liverpool were reportedly interested in the Senegalese international last summer, but the club instead opted to sign Diogo Jota instead from Wolves.
Similarities in his game and Liverpool’s own Sadio Mane has been on show and amid recent links to Sarr, fans have quickly pointed out that the 23-year-old would also depart for AFCON alongside his compatriot Mane. This is one hindering factor.
“We need cover for our players going to AFCON not another one to go with them,” one supporter tweeted.
PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has issued an update on the future of the forward amid continued links to Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Despite continued speculation around the Frenchman’s PSG future after the arrival of Lionel Messi, Pochettino insists Mbappe is “relaxed” about his situation at the club.
He said: “Kylian is relaxed, he is our player and I don’t see him being anywhere else this season.”
Before he added: “This period is part of football. Lots of things are said and I know from experience that some things happen and others don’t.
“Kylian is preparing for tomorrow’s game. The only conversations I have with Kylian are about football.
“He has a year left on his contract, if he doesn’t renew it. We are happy with him and from what I see he is happy with us too.”
Liverpool are reportedly planning to launch a bid for Rennes and Belgium wonderkid Jeremy Doku.
Liverpool are believed to be in the market for a forward. Even though the boss keeps insisting that they are done with their transfer business and he’s happy with the squad depth, fans are desperate for depth in the final third. According to Belgian football expert Sacha Tavolieri, Jeremy Doku loves Liverpool.
In 2018 Jeremy Doku was in Liverpool with Steven Gerrard and Jürgen Klopp trying to persuade him to join the Reds.
Reports suggest that the player’s father was told that the Reds saw the winger as the natural replacement for Sadio Mane.
Speaking to Anfield Central, Belgian football expert Sacha Tavolieri offered an update on the situation between Doku and Liverpool:
“The player is really happy in Rennes for the moment but loves Liverpool and Liverpool loves him from years too…
“I can confirm that the agency of Jeremy Doku has already been in contact with Liverpool. They know each other so if they want to go further, it could go pretty quickly.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a ‘big fan’ of the Wolves ace, who would cost the Reds around £30m. Jurgen Klopp has monitored the Wolves wingers progress carefully as he looks to add to his attacking options this summer, but he will face competition from all the Premier leagues big boys to capture his signature.
Traore has made no secret of his desire to leave Molineux, having rejected Wolves’ advances to extend his deal dating back to last year. He is hoping this summer will see him move on, with Jurgen Klopp a fan of his qualities and Wolves open to a sale.
The 25-year-old and teammate Ruben Neves are both available at the right price. Wolves though insist that while they are willing to sell some of their prized assets, it does not constitute a fire-sale and they will need their valuations met.
The Saúl Ñíguez story is not quite entering saga territory, with the most reputable sources still yet to hand any real credence to claims that Liverpool are in for the Atlético Madrid midfielder. Nonetheless, updates continue to emerge from various corners, and the latest provides another twist.
According to CaughtOffside, who in turn cite a “close club source”, Saúl’s camp are specifically trying to engineer a move to Liverpool. They are said to be ‘pushing’ for the transfer, with a future at Atlético looking increasingly in doubt. The midfielder’s game time was already on the decline before the signature of Rodrigo De Paul, which will no doubt have increased the Spaniard’s desire to leave.
In truth, competition in Liverpool’s midfield would hardly be any less fierce. Saúl would surely not overcome Fabinho for the number six role, while Thiago and Jordan Henderson would at least initially be hard to displace. That’s without mentioning the breakthrough form of Naby Keïta in pre-season, although of course this cannot be relied upon.
Liverpool have less than two weeks to conclude any transfer business before the window shuts until January. Below we look at possible exits as well.
Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson is awaiting approval from Liverpool to seal his deal for Woodburn according to reports; The midfielder has agreed to join Scottish Premiership side Hearts on loan until January according to the Daily Mail as well.
Southampton have launched an ambitious bid to re-sign the Liverpool midfielder – 10 years after selling him as a teenager according to reports. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it’s known that he hasn’t fulfilled his potential for LFC and they may be willing to cut their losses. He is an unbelievable player on his day and has been unlucky being plagued with injuries interrupting his run of games in the first team. Given a good run in a competitive squad he will flourish.
After a stellar Euro campaign, Xherdan Shaqiri remains a target for Lyon with Liverpool waiting for the French side to return with an offer nearer their £12m valuation of the player. Shaqiri continues to have other potential suitors, with his future set to be the subject of conjecture for the remainder of the window.
A number of Premier League and European clubs continue to keep tabs on Divock Origi’s situation, although no interest has yet been made concrete. While he will be remembered as a legend for the key goals he has scored, many fans agree he is not at the level competent to play regularly for this Liverpool team. That being said, he will forever be in the history of the club and the hearts of the fans.
Elsewhere, Southampton are pondering a move for Nat Phillips. With the arrival of Konate, Rhys Williams is certain to attract a host of clubs should Liverpool allow him to leave on loan as well, although that would be dependent on the situation of his fellow centre-back.
