Featherweight warriors are set for 5 rounds of fighting this Saturday night. This bout has the makings of a fight of the year and will definitely be an amazing display of kickboxing within MMA. Let’s take a look at this amazing main event and see how each guy could get it done.
A Look at the Fighters
Giga Chikadze is a kickboxing veteran and will face off against his biggest challenge yet this weekend at UFC Vegas 35. Chikadze has many weapons to use, his kicks are where his technical perfection lies. The signature “Giga kick” is a move that Chikadze loves to use and almost always finds success with, he targets the limit and flawlessly executes a roundhouse shutting the body down.
Edson Barboza is a Muay Thai mainstay in the UFC but continues to show that he is more than just punches and kicks. It’s no secret that Barboza loves heavy kicks and a high, constant pace throughout every second he fights. Barboza can definitely match Chikadze’s high output and can even match him in the perfection of kicking techniques.
Edson Barboza vs Giga Chikadze Breakdown
This fight is either going to be an all-out war, or, a technical kickboxing chess match, either way, this one is for the fans. Chikadze will aim for the liver until he opens up the head whereas Barboza will look to pick apart his legs and strip him of said kicks. Barboza will try to close distance where he can comfortably snap at the legs with no risk of taking damage to the liver, he will also look to show off his improved boxing skills.
Chikadze will use his jab to keep Barboza at distance and use front temps to dictate where the fight takes place. Using the front temp will give Chikadze a good understanding http://www.canadianpharmacy365.net of when he can attempt the “Giga Kick” and as he picks apart the body he will switch things up to the head. Barboza will use a similar distance management technique but will instead use heavy leg kicks so whilst he manages distance, he also is taking away a crucial weapon from his opponent.
