We have all had those players we root for that are great, one of the best at their position, but they are unable to capture that Super Bowl title due to the team they play for. Julio Jones finally escaped the quicksand that is the Atlanta Falcons. He put up prolific fantasy football numbers while tied to Matt Ryan, but this did not lead to significant success in the playoffs. We all remember what happened when they reached the Super Bowl. Now that Julio is tied to Ryan Tannehill what is his fantasy football outlook?
I don’t have to sit here and tell everyone just how productive Julio has been, but I will do it anyway. Jones has amassed 12,896 yards on 848 receptions through ten seasons in the league. He averages 95.5 yards per game so anyone playing in leagues offering 100-yard receiving game bonuses really benefited from rostering Julio in fantasy football!
Jones has posted over 1,000 yards receiving in seven out of his ten seasons played. He is no touchdown monster, only hauling in 60 TDs throughout his career, but maybe he can have better touchdown luck in Tennessee across from A.J. Brown. Jones has earned Pro Bowl honors seven times and been an All-Pro twice! He is one of the best we have seen at the position and is moving on to a great situation.
Julio is stepping into a WR 1A/ 1B type of role. A.J. Brown is a bonafide stud. Julio has moved on from Calvin Ridley to Brown. Julio has produced despite having a younger ascending receiver across from him and this will be no different! Jones is heading to the Tennessee Titans who are fourth in vacated targets with 224 or 47.9% of their targets. Julio is STILL talented enough to take over half of these targets. Jones with at least 120 targets from a super-efficient Ryan Tannehill is a scary thought!
Corey Davis, who is not near the WR Julio Jones is, had 92 targets, 65 receptions, 984 yards, and 5 TDs. This is huge news for an elite wideout like Jones. Julio should step in and immediately become almost equal to AJB. Playing in the AFC South as well gives them four very cush games against the Jaguars and the Texans. This could be huge for their stats and fantasy football output.
Julio Jones 2020 Production
In 2020 Julio had a “down year”. This consisted of him scoring 16.2 fantasy football points per game (#14 in the NFL). He also put up the third most yards per target with 11.3, the fifth-most yards per target with 11.3, was ninth in true catch rate with 94.4%, and tenth in fantasy points per reception with 0.511. He also managed the seventh-highest QBR for his QB when targeted with 126.5! Julio had a down year and still produced at a high level while dealing with an injury!
Fantasy Football ADP/ Value
In redraft, you can grab Julio at the 45th pick overall in PPR leagues or WR 17. This has to be his floor! If Julio stays healthy he is 100% outproducing this ADP! He is also pretty easy to acquire in dynasty fantasy football which is huge for a contender!
Julio can be had for so cheap that it should not be allowed. Julio’s dynasty ADP is about 70 overall so the end of the fifth round. Elite production is hard to get at this point. He is literally being drafted behind Michael Carter….. STOP! This is asinine! Julio could easily finish as a WR1 for at least two more seasons!
Some wild trades I saw on DLF to acquire Julio include:
- Ben Roethlisberger, Chase Edmonds, Marquise Brown for Tom Brady, Kyle Trask, Julio Jones, and a 22 4th
These trades honestly should not happen and can really help you bolster your championship-caliber roster in a dynasty league!
In conclusion, grabbing Julio Jones in dynasty to help push your team over the edge as a contender is a great idea! Also where he is being drafted in redraft is just criminal. I love rostering Julio in almost any fantasy format and he will be on a ton of championship rosters in 2021. BUY!
