One of the Philippines’ rising MMA stars, Lito Adiwang is back in action this September 24 in the main attraction of the lead card for ONE: Revolution, where he will be facing China’s Hexigetu.

Ahead of his encounter with the Chinese counterpart, Overtime Heroics MMA had an exclusive written interview with the “Thunder Kid” where he talked about his plans after this bout against Hexigetu.

“If I win this fight, yes, I want to face someone in the top 5 and if given a chance I want to face the no.1 in the rankings to prove myself,” Adiwang stated.

The Team Lakay member is coming off an impressive second-round knockout victory over Japan’s Namiki Kawahara last January at ONE: Unbreakable. This is after he saw himself in the wrong end of a close and controversial loss to Koha Minowa in October 2020 via a split decision, which booted him out in the top 5 rankings of the Strawweight division.

That loss still haunts the 28-year old athlete and if presented another crack with Minowa, he will be willing to show that he should have won their first meeting.

“Yes. I want to face Minowa again to end that controversial decision.”

Aside from the desire to avenge his lone ONE Championship loss to Minowa, Lito has also called out the Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion, Rodtang Jitmuangon in a ONE Super Series match.

But the timetable for that dream fight of his might be pushed back a little further as he declared that he should solidfy his place first in his current mma division.

“I can see myself competing in ONE Super Series as soon as fully I established myself in my division.”

As his upcoming match is fast approaching, Lito Adiwang is as prepared and sharp as he can possibly be when he competes against Hexigetu, thus he wants to join his Team Lakay brothers in bringing back the glory days of the Baguio-based gym were at some point held four ONE Championship titles simultaneously.

“I am focused, motivated, hungry and on fire – that’s how desperate I am to bring some glory to Team Lakay. (Honestly, I don’t think we lose the glory),” Lito ended.
