December 5th, 2021 sees the return of a man widely regarded as one of the best grapplers on the planet, Garry Tonon, and he plans to snatch the golden title held by ONE Featherweight Champion, Thanh Le.

Although much of his foundation is being a grappling wizard, Gary Tonon is far from a one-trick pony as he has shown in his undefeated MMA run. Since he debuted back in March 2018 with a clinical second-round ground and pound victory over Richard Corminal, he has shown massive improvements in every aspect of MMA.

The Impressive Garry Tonon

Garry Tonon has gone on to extend his record to an impressive 6-0 while also acquiring highlight-reel finishes. From chokes to heel hooks, and a spot of ground and pound threw in for good measure, his last time out was a convincing decision victory over Koyomi Matsushima at ONE: Big Bang.

Under the coaching of John Danaher and a key member of the Danaher Death Squad, Tonon has gone strength to strength looking more competent in every aspect of his game every time he steps into the arena. From crisp calm striking to deadly submission skills, Tonon has it all to not just compete for the title but to also strip Thanh Le in his first defence since winning the belt against fan favourite Martin Nguyen back at ONE: Inside the Matrix.

Although the win is far from a given as Thanh Le is known for his shins of steel and possesses deadly striking capable of turning the fight on its head at any moment, one thing for sure this has Fight of the Night written all over it and on a card being headlined by MMA GOAT Demetrious Johnson vs Rodtang, that’s some tall order.

Are you excited about seeing Garry Tonon finally getting the title shot? Does he have what it takes to walk out of ONE: X being the new division champion?
