North Carolina Tar Heels are Title Contenders

Roy Williams, the legendary head coach, retired this offseason. Assistant head coach Hubert Davis then took over.

Here are the 3 players that put the Tar Heels in title contention this season.

Armando Bacot

Bacot, the leading player in scoring, rebounding, and field-goal percentage last season for the team is returning for one more year before heading off for the NBA draft.

The 6’10 forward has improved in his three-point shooting throughout the offseason as he will hopefully improve in that area this season. Bacot is known for being a true back-to-the-post type of player, but now he will get a chance to expand. He averaged 12.3 points per game and 7.8 rebounds on 62 percent shooting last season.

Dawson Garcia

Garcia, a transfer from Marquette University, averaged 13 points and 6.6 rebounds while shooting 48 percent from the field. He is a player that is going to help elevate the team with his shooting abilities and athleticism.

The 6’11 forward shot 35.6 percent from three-point last season. He is poised to develop into an all-conference performer in the Atlantic Coastal Conference.

Caleb Love

Love, who is going into his Sophomore year averaged 10.5 points with 3.6 assists on 31.6 percent shooting. He needs to get more consistent on the offensive end but has good length on the defensive end.

The 6’3 point guard can break down defenses with either hand and can finish in many ways including floaters and tear-drops. I am confident that Love will grow from his freshman year and improve in his second year with the Tar Heels.
