2021 NFL Season: Best Bets for Week 7

After three straight winning weeks, and back-to-back one-loss weeks, it was about time I came back to reality a little bit. Week Six was favorable for most players – the books got absolutely killed and had one of their worst Sundays in recent memory. Favorites went 9-5 against the line and squares love their favorites in teasers, parlays, and on the Moneyline. Ideally, sportsbooks win when their sharpest customers win. Week Six was a celebration for the squares, triangles, and any other Joe Schmo gamblers.

Do I sound salty? I certainly do, and I kind of am, even though I should not be. I am not a sharp, nor a professional sports bettor, but I try to stay away from being square. Then Week Six came along and reminded me that nobody knows anything. My notably square bet was the only bet I won, and that was the story of the entire weekend. Maybe I got too cute last week, and I paid the price – I went 1-3 and lost 6.9U. On the season, I am now 14-13 +12.1U

I did not bet a side ATS on the Washington game this week but I called the Chiefs taking home the victory. I also nailed the Packers – I knew Aaron Rodgers owned them, I’m just surprised Bears fans forgot. On the flip side, I could not have been more wrong on my other picks. The Lions, Browns, and Chargers all got spanked. All I can do is learn from this week and push forward. I am still in the green and over 50% for the season.

Make sure to follow me on Twitter @slimeaction – I have a thread of my best bets there as well and update it throughout the week. I did not add on any plays last week. I’m excited to see if I can bounce back – without further ado, let’s look at my best bets for Week Seven of the 2021 NFL Season.

NFL Week Seven Bets I am Playing:

3U 2 Team 6 Pt Teaser: New England Patriots -1/U49 New York Giants vs Carolina Panthers -110

Bill Belichick and the Patriots tortured Zach Wilson during their Week Two matchup. Wilson threw four interceptions and the Jets managed just six points. Since that matchup, Mac Jones has improved week in and week out and Wilson still seems stuck in a rut. The Jets are coming off a bye and should fare better this time. However, unless the Patriots come out flat, I see Belichick stifling Wilson and the Jets offense for a second time. Furthermore, the Giants and Panthers both have stout defenses and are limited on offense. The Giants need a win and the Darnold has a lot to prove. This game could get really ugly.

3U 2 Team 6 Pt Teaser: New England Patriots -1/Green Bay Packers -1.5 -110

I am doubling down on the Patriots this week – I am taking the home side, by virtue of the better team, coach, and quarterback, to take care of business in what is an early must-win game for their playoff hopes. I can see the Jets’ defensive front giving the Patriots offensive line trouble, but not enough. The Washington Football Team is one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season. This number opened at 9.5 and I would’ve teased up Washington there, but getting Green Bay by two points should be free. Washington needs to win, but how can anyone have confidence in them?

3U Indianapolis Colts +4 @ San Francisco 49ers -110

The Colts have been playing a lot better in recent weeks and they look like the playoff team they were supposed to be when the season started. The 49ers are coming off a bye and have had extra time to put on an adequate gameplan for this game, but the Colts should be prepared for the primetime lights. If Lance goes, I will feel better about this bet. Also, I think San Francisco is overrated and the Colts are the better coached team. I see this number dropping before kick-off.

3U Kansas City Chiefs -4 @ Tennesee Titans -115

The Chiefs’ offense finally woke up in the 2nd half of their game at Washington last week. Yes, they took care of a bad opposing squad, particularly a bad defense, but Mahomes put together his best half of football in a few weeks. Moreover, the Titans are coming off a massive home win against Buffalo in primetime, but they also lost a few more players to injuries in the process. All in all, the Chiefs’ defense is certainly concerning, but I do not think the Titans are ready to win back-to-back shootouts.
