Jose Altuve Continues Postseason Success

The Houston Astros have tied up the World Series against the Atlanta Braves, thanks to Jose Altuve. With the series heading to Atlanta on Friday, the Astros will be looking to Altuve to continue his postseason success as they continue their quest for a second World Series Championship.

Thriving In The Postseason

Jose Altuve got his first taste of the postseason in 2015 when the Astros returned to the postseason for the first time since 2005. Since then, Altuve has proved why he is the best all-around hitter, especially in the postseason. In 75 postseason games spanning over six seasons, Altuve"s postseason career record (currently) is .289/.365/.554/.919. What is more impressive is the 22-home runs that he has hit during that span.

Sitting atop of the leader board with the most home runs in the postseason is none other Manny Ramirez. Throughout 111 postseason games with three different teams, Ramirez hit a total of 29 home runs, with a slugging percentage of .544.

Behind Ramirez sitting tied for a second-place atop the postseason home run leader board is former New York Yankees outfielder Bernie Williams. One of the most productive hitters, Williams managed to hit 22 home runs in 121 postseason games with the Yankees. The player that is currently tied with Williams with 22 career postseason home runs is Altuve.

Altuve is one of the best postseason hitters because he surpassed one of the game"s greatest players, Mr. October himself, Reggie Jackson. In the postseason, Jackson hit a total of 18 home runs in 77 postseason games with a .885 OPS. Why is Altuve one of the best postseason hitters? What makes Altuve the best is that he has surpassed every expectation that has been expected of him. All while being as humble as one human being can be.

What Altuve has done at the plate during the postseason has been remarkable — sitting atop with some the greatest ever to play the game. The span in which Altuve has achieved this greatness proves what kind of hitter he is. The hitting wheel that holds the Astros together is Altuve. When Altuve can get things going, the rest of the team will follow.

It will be exciting to watch what Altuve continues to do not only during this 2021 World Series but throughout the remainder of his career.
