Every sports fan loves to gamble and betting on fights is one of the most entertaining ways to get your fix. Anyone who needs some bets for this weekend, you’ve come to the right place. Here are the best I’ll have on my book this weekend. Tail me if you dare.
Magomed Ankalaev by finish (-106)
Volkan Oezdemir must have pissed one of the matchmakers off because they are trying to get this dude killed. Last time he was in action he was given the thankless task of welcoming Jiri Prochazka to the octagon. It doesn’t get much easier for our boy this weekend because Ankalaev can absolutely chuck em. He’s not your typical Dagestani UFC fighter, he’s not looking for the takedown, he’s looking to collect scalps. I don’t get why the UFC is giving Oezdemir the hardest possible fights at every turn, but if I had to guess it is because he is the owner of the worst nickname in sports. Volkan “No Time” Oezdemir simply doesn’t make sense. If he gets a new nickname maybe he goes on another title run. Unfortunately for Volkan he is running out of time to change it.
Khamzat Chimaev by finish (-177)
I see a lot of people saying Li Jingliang is way too big of an underdog. Honestly not quite sure if I agree with that. I could be left looking stupid over this take, but it’s not like the line is moving. If everybody genuinely believed he should be less than +400 then go ahead and bet on him and let me know how it goes. I am not a fan of burning money however so I am taking Chimaev. It’s not really worth betting on him outright unless you include him in a parlay since he is such a massive favorite. He’s got a pretty favorable matchup here though. Based on what we’ve seen from Chimaev so far is if he gets just 1 takedown you are officially in locked in for a beating. My guess is the only chance Jingliang has is a lucky punch, and I don’t even know if that will work. We haven’t seen Khamzat get hit yet but it’s pretty easy to assume that dude can take a punch. Khamzat by finish baby, roll Borz.
Dan Hooker outright (+450)
You don’t like this one? What are you a coward? Hooker gets him with a knee or a guillotine.
The Y(J)an parlay (-110)
So this is actually awful value for a parlay. I also think both underdogs have a real chance of winning. That being said, when are you going to get another chance to bet on Yan and Jan on the same night? Nobody can say for certain when these guys will share a card again. We need to take advantage of these things. If you have money on this it’s an excuse to make that Yan/Jan joke all day to your friends who are watching MMA for the third time and don’t know either guy. This could be once in a lifetime folks.
Alexander Volkov and Marcin Tybura to go the distance (+100)
This is one of those heavyweight fights that has decision written all over it. Don’t ask me why because I genuinely have no justification for that take. Tybura has a good chin and Volkov has proved he can go five rounds so that works in my favor. I think I just expected it to be -100 or something and got excited when I saw the + and just couldn’t help it. I’m just feeling a decision in my bones here.
So I’m gonna start doing this blog weekly where I just list a few bets I am going to make and try to justify them. Fair warning the most research that will go into this is me trying to recall the last time I saw these guys fight. I do watch a lot of MMA so hopefully that doesn’t go as poorly as one may expect. Another thing you need to consider when tailing my bets is that I am 1000% biased towards the fighters I like and will not bet against them no matter what. You’ve been warned, join me at your own risk.
