2021 NFL Season: Best Bets for Week 9

Image for 2021 NFL Season: Best Bets for Week 9

After three straight celebratory weeks for most bettors, sportsbooks got back in the win column with a very profitable Week Eight. Underdogs went 11-4 against the spread last week and the public took a beating. Fortunately for me and my best bets, I had another winning week going 6-1 for an additional 12.5 units.

In addition, I had one five-unit bet this past week and that was my only loser. Washington is an NFL-worst 1-7 against the spread this season, and I am 2-4 betting on their games this year. However, I improved to 5-1 betting on Washington teasers and also improved to 5-0 betting Washington props. Washington is on a bye this week, so I need to see where else I can find value and pick some more winners.

I currently sit at 24-15 +36.5 units this season. We are officially at the halfway point of the season, and I could not be happier with how this experiment has been going to date. However, as we all know, there is still tons of football left to be played. I am trying to fight past any regression and continue to pick winners and build my bankroll. Let’s take a look at what I am betting for Week Nine of the 2021 NFL Season.

NFL Week Nine Bets I am Playing:

3U 2 Team 6 Pt Teaser Houston Texans +12.5/ Los Angeles Rams -1.5 -110

Tyrod Taylor is set to return from injury and he gets a solid matchup against a struggling Miami Dolphins team. While neither team is good, or even close to it, I am confident the Texans are not 12.5 points worse than Miami. Moreover, Tua should be able to move the ball but so should Tyrod and the Texan’s offense. As regards the second game, the Rams are one of the hottest teams in football. While the Titans have also been playing well, they will dearly miss Derrick Henry. If Jalen Ramsey locked down AJ Brown, I feel good laying only two points for the home team in primetime.

3U Los Angeles Chargers -1 @ Philadelphia Eagles -120

The sharps are said to be predominantly going with the Eagles. Meanwhile, the Chargers have had times this season where they look like they can compete in the AFC. Yet, they have also experienced moments portraying them as a team that does not have all the pieces put together. In contrast, the Eagles are playing well above what most expected this season. This line opened at 3.5 and has been bet down to 1.5 and 2 at most shops. If I lose this bet, I will refrain from fading my sources. But, at the end of the day, no one knows anything, and sharps lose too.

3U 2 Team 6 Pt Teaser Baltimore Ravens PK/ Cleveland Browns +8.5 -110

The last time I bet the Browns and the Chargers to cover spreads in the same week I went 1-4. Did I lose because I incorrectly read their matchups that week, or is my evaluation of these individual teams so off? Both of these AFC North teams could use a win and both have good matchups to do so. While the Ravens’ passing D has been hot and cold, they seem to be able to slow down Kirk Cousins. Furthermore, the Browns, even after a rough week in their locker room, match up well against the Bengals.

Week Eight: 6-1 +12.5U

Season Total: 24-15 +36.5U
