The Toronto Blue Jays have lost a pitcher due to the latest waiver claims. The Blue Jays recently extended a qualifying offer to left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray and did not extend one to Steven Matz who will also be a free agent.
Bryan Baker Claimed by Orioles
Bryan Baker was acquired by the Jays from the Colorado Rockies in 2018. He was the player to be named at a later date and was the final piece to a trade from 2016. The six-foot-six reliever spent his three seasons in the minor leagues with Toronto’s affiliates the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and most recently the Buffalo Bisons in Triple-A. In 2021 Bryan Baker had a 6-1 record with the Buffalo Bisons accompanied by a 1.31 ERA, he also racked up 11 saves in 36 appearances.
Toronto will need to address their pitching staff again this off-season, with no offer sent to Steven Matz and Robbie Ray is expected to decline his qualifying offer on route to free agency.
