The Hank Aaron Award is given to the Major League Baseball players selected as the top hitter in each league every year, as voted on by baseball fans and members of the media. It was introduced in 1999 to honor the 25th anniversary of Hank Aaron"s surpassing Babe Ruth"s career home run mark of 714 home runs.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: A Break Out Season
The now 22-year old infielder was named to the American League all-star team this season, as he dominated everywhere he played, and every pitcher he faced. Ultimately, not the ending to the season Vladimir and teammates had hoped for but the awards are now here and rightfully have Guerrero Jr."s name engraved upon them.
Guerrero Jr. broke out this season posting an impressive .311 batting average, he accumulated 188 hits, and 48 home runs, also an outstanding 1.002 OPS. We must also remember he was the everyday first baseman for the first time in his career after making the transition from third base, and he looked comfortable and had success playing at first base.
