Conor McGregor Takes Shots At… Belal Muhammad?

In what is possibly the strangest headline to come out of last night’s UFC Vegas 42: Holloway vs Rodriguez, Conor McGregor took shots at former light-heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith and #9 ranked welterweight contender Belal Muhammad. In a now-deleted Tweet, McGregor posted a recording of his broadcast while Muhammad and Smith delivered their post-fight analysis as he laughed maniacally in the background.

This is after Conor responded to a fan tweet last month mocking Belal with several smiling emojis. The fan Tweet was a list of who to look to for several different aspects of MMA. Silva for dominance, Ngannou for power, Conor for striking… and Belal Muhammad for “none of that.” However, it didn’t take long for Muhammad to pop back at McGregor.

He was quick to respond last night, but seems to be struggling to come up with new material:

This beef likely stems back to whenever the Belal fought Leon Edwards earlier this year, with the fight ending with a No-Contest after Muhammad was struck by an accidental eye poke and was unable to continue. Had Edwards, who is a client of McGregor’s management team won the fight, it would have put him in a much better position to negotiate a title shot against Kamaru Usman.
