The Philippines’ premier MMA team will spearhead ONE Championship’s closing event for 2021.
Four Team Lakay Athletes Headline ONE: Winter Warriors II
Team Lakay of Baguio City in the Philippines is leading the finale show of ONE Championship for this year as four of their members are seeing action for the ONE: Winter Warriors II event which will be aired on December 17.
Former title challenger and current number two-ranked Flyweight athlete Danny Kingad will be locking horns with former ONE Flyweight champion and now number-four ranked contender Kairat Akhmetov in what could be a title elimination match.
This bout between Kingad and Akhmetov was supposed to happen in the semifinals of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix in 2019, but the Kazakh suffered an injury prior to the match.
After two years, the two will now finally meet inside the Circle and potentially determine the next contender to challenge reigning Flyweight champion, Adriano Moraes.
Meanwhile, in the co-main event, former ONE Bantamweight champion Kevin Belingon is going to take a tough opposition in the form of Kwon Won Il who is riding a two-fight winning streak. The “Silencer” looks to use this match as a jumping board to stay in the title conversation after receiving a second-round loss from John Lineker during his last outing in October 2020.
Also in the card are two other Team Lakay members, Stephen Loman and Jhanlo Mark Sangiao who are making their respective ONE Championship debuts.
Loman, the former BRAVE Bantamweight champion will be welcomed by the number three contender, Yusup Saadulaev, while Sangiao will be facing Paul Lumihi.
Completing the lineup of the card is the Welterweight showdown between Zebaztian Kadestam and Murad Ramazanov and the 95KG Catchweight match of Vitaly Bigdash and Fam Rong.
