A goal by Leroy Sane was enough for a 1:0 win over a stubbern Bielefeld aswel as breaking Cologne’s 44-year old record for the most Bundesliga goals scored in a single calendar year, the goal took the record champions’ Bayern Munich’ total for 2021 to 102, and they still have another four games left to increase their tally further.

Bayern had moved into triple figures during their 2-1 win over Freiburg on Matchday 11, and drew level with Cologne’s previous record the following week against Augsburg.

This has been made possible by the fact they currently have the world’s most prolific goalscorer in Robert Lewandowski, who scored the 101st goal of 2021 which was his 38th goal during said period, although its been far more than just a one man show at Bayern they have managed to find right throughout the team this season.

Serge Gnabry has six, Müller and Sane have four, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Joshua Kimmich three and Leon Goretzka, Jamal Musiala and Kingsley Coman all have two.

Thomas Müller made his 396th Bundesliga appearance for Bayern Munich during the win, drawing level with the German and Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer for league games with the club.

32 year old Müller, matched Der Kaiser’s total on Matchday 13 of 2021/22 at home to Arminia Bielefeld. It puts Muller joint sixth on the club’s all-time list of appearances in the Bundesliga since the record champions were first promoted in 1965.

Top of the list is legendary goalkeepers Sepp Maier (473), with a gap then down to Oliver Kahn (429) and goalscoring machine Gerd Müller (427).if Muller can minting his ever presence this season he will catch both Georg Schwarzenbeck (416) and Klaus Augenthaler (404), Muller has started every match in 2021/22 and will surpass Schwarzenbeck by one if he keeps that up until the end of the season.

Müller’s now 396 appearances have seen him succeed 10 winner’s medals, which includes the record breaking last nine in a row, a honor which he holds together with David Alaba and will claim outright assuming Bayern retain once again.

Muller also isn’t shy in front of goal with 133 goals in first 395 games and proviing over 150 assists since making his Bayern debut, incidentally also against Bielefeld back in April 2009 as a last-minute substitute for Luca Toni.

Muller joined the Bayern academy at the age of 11, outside of the Bundesliga he has made 600 competitive appearance for the club during the previous matchday against Augsburg. Being the first outfield player to reach that total in the Bundesliga era, which had only previously been achieved by goalkeepers Maier and Kahn.

In aaddition to the 10 Bundesliga titles Mr Bayern Munich has won the DFB Cup six times, the UEFA Champions League twice during treble winning seasons in 2013 and 2020, seven DFL Supercups, two UEFA Super Cups, two FIFA Club World Cups, and last but not least the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany to become his country’s most decorated player ever.

How many more records will we see Muller break during his career at Bayern Munich?
