Shore MMA have made a huge name for themselves in recent years with them producing UFC calibre fighters on a regular basis from Jack Marshman becoming the first Welshman to sign with the MMA lead promotion, to Jack Shore putting out impressive display after impressive display taking his record to 15-0 , there is no signs of slowing down with the plethora of talent being produced at this impressive facility run by the father and son team of Richard and Jack Shore.

None more so than newly crowned Cage Warriors Wales Bantamweight Champion Levi Batchelor.

Who is Levi Batchelor?

20-year-old Levi Batchelor holds a 4-0 Amateur record having made his MMA debut at Cage Warriors 108 with a 0:54 first-round D’Arce Choke submission victory.

This was followed up by a convincing decision win over Adam Raja at Meltdown Fighting Championship 6, Batchelor returned to a Cage Warriors cage with another first-round submission victory over Alan Lewis at Cage Warriors Academy Wales 4 where Batchelor locked in a sweet arm triangle finish.

This led to his first title opportunity and the Welshman took it with both hands at Cage Warriors Academy Wales 5 Batchelor took on tough Scotsman Ross McGowan for the vacant Bantamweight gold.

In what was a hard-fought win Batchelor dug deep where it was required to come through successfully extending his undefeated record.

Strengths

After just four short years Batchelor was awarded his BJJ purple belt back in July 2021 and incredible achievement in such a short period of time, he has shown early on his ability to slip in a slick submission when required.

Training at Shore MMA, Batchelor is fortunate to ply his trade with Jack Shore and Brett Johns on a regular basis, two of the best MMA wrestlers to come from the UK scene with both men succeeding at the highest level, it will only help progress the young Welshmans craft.

Batchelor has great fight IQ with coaches Richard Shore and Carl Parker guiding his success won’t be far away, both coaches have gotten the best from numerous talent all the way from Cage Warriors to the UFC, always going in with a solid game plan giving their fighters the best opportunity for success.

Weeknesses

Although we haven’t been exposed to any as of yet, we have seen over the years with top-level young talent that only a limited number succeed.

MMA is a ruthless business where you’re only as good as your last win, question is how will Batchelor come back if or when he falls to his first loss, this remains to be seen.

Levi Batchelor is definitely someone that should be on your radar if you’re looking for the next generation to make a huge impact on MMA. I predict that by the end of 2022 that Graham Boylan and Ian Dean will have called Batchelor up to the main cards for Cage Warriors and look forward to watching the rise of this incredible talent.
