There will be a new bantamweight king in the BRAVE Combat Federation as Hamza Kooheji and Brad Katona are scheduled for a championship bout this March 2022 in the main event of BRAVE 57. The event will take place inside the Khalifa Sports City Arena.
After long-time champion Stephen Loman has vacated his title in his historic run with the Bahrain-based promotion, BRAVE has called upon Bahraini icon Hamza Kooheji and Canadian star Brad Katona to determine their next undisputed 135-pound champion.
Both Kooheji and Katona are both riding winning streaks, with Hamza accumulating four wins over Crisanto Pitpitunge, Yayong Wang, Nahuel Gandolfi, and Aidan James. He also holds victories over Mohamed Mashaly, Jeremy Pacatiw, and Mohammed Farhad.
Meanwhile, Katona is coming off consecutive wins over Borislav Nikolic in his BRAVE CF debut via Guillotine submission and a unanimous decision triumph against Bair Shtephin. Before signing with BRAVE, Katona competed in the UFC and collected a 2-2 record.
This Bantamweight title clash is part of the organization’s International Combat Week which will also feature the first-ever MMA Super Cup. The Super Cup is the world’s largest amateur tournament in association with IMMAF, KHK Sports, and the Bahrain MMA Federation.
