Gunnar Nelson is officially back! As we previously reported, Nelson signed a new contract with the UFC and now we know when he will step back into the cage.

As reported by Alfred Zullino on Twitter, Gunnar Nelson will make his long-awaited return at UFC London on March 19 against Claudio Silva. Zullino noted that the fight was not official at the time of his tweet, but was in the UFC’s plans for the March 19 event. MMA Junkie also reported that an anonymous source confirmed the fight is in the works for the organization’s return to London. 

Gunnar Nelson (17-5-1) has been a part of the UFC roster for the better part of a decade. He made his Octagon debut at UFC on Fuel TV 5 in Sept. 2012. ‘Gunni’ has gone 8-5 in the UFC and will be looking to bounce back from the first back-to-back losses of his MMA career. 

Meeting him in London will be Claudio Silva (14-3) who is also looking to recover from two straight losses in the cage. Silva debuted in the Octagon in March 2014. He won five straight before losing his last two bouts against James Krause and Court McGee.

UFC London takes place at the 02 Arena in London, England on March 19. The event is expected to be headlined by Tom Aspinall and Alexander Volkov in a heavyweight showdown. Other bouts announced for the event include:
