A big featherweight bout is being targeted for a UFC Fight Night in June.
Initially reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, undefeated featherweight Mosvar Evloev is being targeted to face Dan Ige on June 4. The event, expected to be a Fight Night, has not been confirmed by the UFC.
Movsar Evloev (15-0, 5-0 UFC) will face his toughest test to date when he steps into the cage with Ige. Fighting out of Ingushetia, Russia, Evloev is yet to experience defeat in his MMA career.
After amassing a 10-0 record under the M-1 promotion, Evloev made his UFC debut in April 2019 and earned a unanimous decision victory over Seung Woo Choi. Since his debut, Evloev has improved to 15-0 with wins against Enrique Barzola, Mike Grundy, Nik Lentz, and most recently, Hakeem Dawodu.
Currently ranked #13 in the UFC’s official rankings, Evloev will be facing his first top 10 ranked opponent in June.
Dan Ige (15-5, 7-4 UFC) has been on a bit of a skid recently. Looking to recover from back-to-back losses against ‘Korean Zombie’ and Josh Emmett, Ige is 1-3 in his last four bouts. His last victory inside the cage came against Gavin Tucker in March. Ige scored a knock 22 seconds into the bout and banked a 50k bonus in the process.
Ranked as the UFC’s #9 featherweight, Ige earned his way into the promotion with an impressive performance on Dan White’s Contender Series in 2017. Though he lost his promotional debut against Julio Arce, Ige would win his next six fights before suffering a unanimous decision loss to Calvin Kattar.
No location, venue, or broadcast plan has been announced for the UFC event on June 4. Only one other bout is tentatively scheduled for the event; a women’s flyweight match-up between Poliana Botelho and Karine Silva.
