The Montreal Canadiens have fired head coach Dominque Ducharme after a horrific start to the season, the 8-30-7 are having the worst start in franchise history despite making the Stanley Cup Final last season. Dominque Ducharme had a 23-46-14 record during his tenure in Montreal but now, it came to an end
Martin St Louis: Good or Bad Fit?
Interim Head Coach
Earlier today, The Montreal Canadiens hired HHOF Martin St Louis as Interim Head Coach.

Past Experience
Martin St.Louis is making his professional coaching debut with the big club. He has no coaching experience under his belt but I have good faith that he can gain respect in the dressing room and also create a fast-paced hockey team.
Is there a risk?
It is quite clear the Montreal Canadiens are out of postseason contention, in fact, bringing in a new face and changing the room a little bit can benefit the young players that are struggling this season like Cole Caufield. The new Habs coach played a very dynamic play style during his hockey career, very fast and amazing offensive play. The HHOF only coaching experience has been a peewee team, yes, a peewee team. Although he may lack experience, there is no doubt that Martin knows a thing or two about the game. It feels extremely refreshed to finally see a change in the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Verdict: No risk
Why did Jeff Gorton change his mind about a coaching change?
During his first conference, Jeff Gorton clearly stated that Dom Ducharme would remain head coach for the remainder of the season. Clearly, that did not happen. Do we blame Jeff? Absolutely not. In the last five games the Montreal Canadiens played, they"ve conceded 33 goals! averaging 7.5 goals a game, a franchise-worst. Other Candidates, I heard for this job and that can pursue this job potentially at the end of the season are Guy Boucher, Jim Montgomery and Benoit Groulx.
