Conor McGregor Takes Aim at Tyson Fury in Latest Twitter Rant

It was just a matter of time before the most popular name in mixed martial arts crossed paths with the most popular name in professional boxing today.

Conor McGregor initiated an online spat with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury when he took offense to a tweet that appeared to praise McGregor’s lightweight rival Khabib Nurmagomedov

While McGregor’s tweet is mostly unintelligible, it appears that the former champ-champ was attacking Fury not only for supporting his rival but for a 2021 incident involving Fury’s friend Billy Joe Saunders. Saunders’ father and team got into a quarrel with security following Saunders’ loss to Canelo Alvarez in May.

Fury was quick to reply, taking a shot at McGregor’s lackluster record over the last few years and also referenced an incident where McGregor punched an elderly man inside a pub in 2019.

From there, McGregor responded with multiple tweets, all of which have since been deleted.

Fury decided to take one more jab at McGregor before putting down his phone. β€œ@TheNotoriousMMA has done more Tapping than MJ,s old dance shoes,” Fury tweeted.

At that point, it appeared that β€˜Notorious’ had enough, sending out one more tweet to Fury reiterating his original statement before walking away.

β€œOh no people don’t like me what will I ever do hahahahaaha,” McGregor tweeted. β€œYou are just a little rim licker bro. Thats all. You stood there while your friends father was being attacked and done nothing. That’s the be all end all bro. God luck, god bless.”

In the end, it was just another day of combat sports athletes trading barbs for a little attention.
